Facebook announced their new feature in messenger chats
allowing users to call another user or users. Maximum 50 users can be in one
group call. Users in a group chat can tap the phone icon to initiate a call,
and the rest can join the same call conversation by taping the phone icon.
Viber and Line already provide this service allowing 200
people to join group call, but the difference is compared to Facebook Viber and
Line has very less amount of people. With Facebook’s advanced social network features
and capabilities, it will be a very tough competition for other companies like
Viber and Line to survive.
Telecommunication companies will be affected as well. If
Facebook start to act as a Telecommunication company providing wider
telecommunication services, they will be the biggest telecommunication company
in the world with more than 1.2 Billion Subscribers. And you’ll be able to see
the person’s profile before you call.
Replacing traditional phone calls with VoIP calls is the new
trend. If this continues, traditional calls will be replaced fully and VoIP
will become a fully featured and reliable way to call. Most difficult part of
VoIP is having a clear conversation, as the data speed and bandwidth effects the
quality of the call.
Sooner or later hopefully Facebook will start to provide
video call technology to the market challenging the other companies like Skype who
provides the technology already.
Faster grow the technology of mobile world, everyday new
devices come in to the market with new technology. Main concern about the
battery life should be taken as important as well.
