Replace two Phrases and change the life - Bernard Roth

How many negative words we use daily? How many negative thoughts we think daily?

And how much those words and thoughts can affect our mind, and what about the negative words we hear daily?

Sometimes changing a very simple thing can make a huge difference in once whole life. How much a single word or a phrase can change the life of us.

Bernard Roth a professor of Engineering at Stanford Suggest to change two simple phrases of our vocabulary in his new Book The achievement habit, He actually propose to eliminate them from the vocabulary and replace with new.

As he says Replace 'But' with ‘and’ and see the difference of a simple sentence we use. For an example

1. "I want to come to your party, but I have to do some work"
2. "I want to come to your party, and I have to do some work"

How is this simple replacement, changed the whole idea of the sentence. As professor explains further word 'but' create a conflict which does not exist. Think, this above reply you hear from one of your friends, and you'll definitely get a negative impression of him or her. But if the same person replied with the new changed sentence, it will create you a positive mind of the person.

And the other one is Replace 'Have to' with 'Want to'

Think about the below example

1. "I have to pass the exam to get the new job"
2. "I want to pass the exam to get the new job"

Someone who listen to the second sentence will understand you’re eager to achieve your target, and that would be great if it was your parents of course.
