Google announced Android N (Developer Preview)

The latest Android OS (Android Marshmallow) was released on the 3rd Quarter of 2015, and 9th March 2016 Google announced about the Android N Developer preview. This “work in progress” release for developers and Google expect there feedback on the release to enhance the last product. Google expecting to launch the final product to users in this summer which is more sooner than the expected dates.

With this Developer preview Google has released some new APIs and features developers to go through and get ready with their new apps for the new OS while providing there feedback. Below features included in the new OS.

Multi-window - Most asked feature by users for a long time. With this feature developers are allowed to launch their apps in split screen mode. Developer can specify the minimum dimensions so the User will not be able to smaller screen below that size. Developers are given the opportunity to use the picture-in-picture technology like TVs, so the developer can give more awesome experience to User with their apps.

Direct Reply Notifications – As the name says you will be able to understand what the feature can do. You may be able to reply to the message notifications at the notification bar itself, for an example, Once the notification shows, it comes with the reply, snooze and archive options so you can choose one from them. And if you select the reply option, you may see the keyboard to reply and go back to your previous screen. Nicee…. Isn’t it.

Bundled Notifications – Developer will be able to bundle up all their one single app’s notifications in to one place with expandable option. So the Users notification bar will not be a messy place to read.

Battery saver – Android N has more enhanced features to save your phones battery and storage. Android Marshmallow’s Doze feature has been enhanced to save power at screen turn off too. Marshmallow’s Doze feature saved power when the device is stationary. Fastest charging phone Oppo.

Improved Java 8 language support - Android’s Jack compiler has given Java 8 language features to android so the developers are able to use more popular features of java 8 language like lambdas. Lambdas will help to replace anonymous inner-class when you have to use event listeners. And more other Java 8 features has been enabled in new Android version like default and static methods, streams, and functional interfaces. Seems the Developers have been given the opportunity do more awesome stuff with their apps in this new version.

Yep it still in the testing stages, hope we all will be able to experience the latest Android version and its awesomeness sooner in this year. Even though it has not been a quite a long time since Android Marshmallows was launched, seems the new version will provide good experience to users and developers.
